When grilled by Hip-Hop Wired at the 2014 BMI R&B & Hip-Hop Awards, Yesi Ortiz was much more subtle about her presence on the upcoming Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood than her co-star, Yung Berg. So much in fact, you might want to consider her the automatic shoo-in for the only cast member not to embarrass themselves on VH1’s national stage.
“I was worried going into [the show],” Ortiz admits, as she has been the golden voice behind Los Angeles’ Power 106 for a number of years. Given the popular reality show’s reputation for bringing out the sketchy side in all who make appearances, there was a risk to for damages to her credibility. Ortiz was playfully adamant that won’t be the case here, continuing with “People who know me and listeners who listen to me every single day would know that it’s coming from a place of business.”
She was backed on the carpet by her boyfriend Giovanni Watson, who says he will play her love interest in the show in a subdued role.
The show is currently still filming so there’s still room for a struggle scene from Yesi, but as it stands, she will be the face of reason.
