Ray Rice has finally broken his silence regarding the release of footage of punching his then fiancee Janay Palmer out cold. The now former Baltimore Ravens running back expressed support for his wife during this tumultuous time.

Rice sentiments echo the Instagram statement Palmer issued, minus the media blame.

“I have to be strong for my wife. She is so strong,” Rice reportedly told ESPN reporter Josina Anderson. “We are in good spirits. We have a lot of people praying for us and we’ll continue to support each other. I have to be there for Janay and my family right now and just work through this.”

Mrs. Rice also expressed a desire for their privacy to be respected.

After the release of the video by TMZ, Rice was cut from the Ravens and suspended from the NFL. Today it was revealed that he was dropped by Nike, will be removed from the new Madden video game, but that’s just the start of the impending losses.

According to the Associated Press, there is a longer, clear version of the video of the incident in law enforcement’s possession.

A longer, more detailed video of the fight between Ray Rice and Janay Palmer shows them shouting obscenities at each other, and she appears to spit in the face of the three-time Pro Bowl running back before he throws a brutal punch.

The video, shown to The Associated Press Monday night by a law enforcement official, includes audio and is longer than the grainy TMZ Sports video released earlier that day.

The more details come to light, the more distressing this entire situation is, on multiple levels.
