After some delays due to sample clearance issues, Vince Staples finally blesses fans with his long-awaited conceptual EP, Hell Can Wait.
While speaking with Hip-Hop Wired, Staples said, ” I feel like I’m trying to chronicle something,” is regards to his projects being lyrical time capsules. Building on where Shyne Coldchain Vol. 2 ended, the Long Beach native tells a story that spans seven tracks, including “Blue Suede” and “Hands Up.” In those two songs alone, the MC leaves ears laden with recollections of run-ins with police and his experiences gang bang.
Staples handles all of the rhyming, while Teyana Taylor contributes a chorus and Aston Matthews assists with additional vocals.
