An Ohio man got busted pretending to be a cop, after he pulled over an actual cop Monday (Oct. 13) night. David Scofield caught a misdemeanor charge for impersonating an officer, carrying a concealed weapon, and obstructing official business.

Scofield, a 50-year-old gun dealer, was arrested driving a white Ford Crown Victoria with a bright light, similar to a squad car. He attempted to block another driver Monday night, not knowing that the driver was a police officer on his way to work.

Reports Ohio.com:

Scofield, police say, swerved into the officer’s direction and then aimed his car’s spotlight into the officer’s car. The Akron officer called his department and Tallmadge police; officers from both departments stopped Scofield’s car near the South Arlington Street exit. Police say Scofield’s car was decorated to mimic a police car and included “1-800 Grab DUI” front plate used by state troopers.

Court records show Scofield was arrested for impersonating an officer in Fairfield County last year when he told an officer during a traffic stop that he worked as a reserve sheriff’s deputy in another county. Scofield was a reserve deputy, but in a different county than he said. The charges were later dismissed, court records show.

When police arrested Scofield, he had an arsenal of weapons in his car including a rifle, shotgun, silencer, and a bulletproof vest. He had a permit to carry the concealed weapons but failed to inform authorities.
