An impromptu European vacation has the allowed Mary J. Blige, the undisputed Queen of Hip-Hop Soul, to infuse a new sound into her artistic DNA to birth The London Sessions.

At thirteen albums deep, there isn’t a nary an emotion that Blige hasn’t tackled singing to millions of unyielding fans. For The London Sessions, there is the same beautiful anguish in the vocals that have made her an idol for women across the globe. Sounds such as light piano melodies and transcendent acoustic guitar chords just give everything a new template.

Records like “My Loving” pick up right where the Disclosure smash “F for You” left off while the Sam Smith-penned “Right Now” mixes the right amount of soul and upbeat pop for anyone on either side of the pond to become an instant fan.

The album has understandably been released in the UK as of yesterday, November 25 and has a couple of weeks to go until the December 2 US release date. Thankfully, Capitol Records has set up a way for fans all across the world to get a good listen as they budget for the worthwhile purchase.

Stream Mary J. Blige’s The London Sessions via iTunes First Play. The album includes contributions from Rodney Jerkins, Disclosure, Craze and Hoax, Naughty Boy, Jimmy Napes, Sam Romans, Eg White and of course, Mr. Smith.
