Kobe Bryant embraces the role of the villain, a character that’s more difficult than to empathize with than the typical hero. But the current status of the Los Angeles Lakers makes it difficult not to feel bad for the future hall of famer.

The late game antics of Jeremy Lin during last night’s contest against the Memphis Grizzlies shows exactly why Bryant infamously cursed out his teammates at a recent practice.

Bryant hit a clutch three-point basket with 24.2 seconds left in the game, making the score 106-105 in favor of the Grizzlies. The next logical move for any hooper is to immediately foul, with hopes that your opposition comes up short at the charity strike.

Needless to say that Lin did not, and what happens next is utterly laughable. Unfortunately, the point guard was in a rock and a hard place, as reports say head coach Byron Scott advised him not to foul until the 10 second mark.

The Lakers lost the game 109-106.

Peep the footage below and please say a prayer for Bryant.
