Kid Ink is growing sizeable fan base but the Los Angeles rapper certainly got some more fame when Lil Wayne gave him a shout on Twitter. The tatted up MC, whose new album, Full Speed, is due out in February, explained what led to the nod from Weezy.

“1 time 4 da homie Kid Ink 4 da luv!,” tweeted Weezy in the wee hours of January 19.

Kid Ink believes it was because of his latest tune.

“It was an acknowledgement cause I dropped a record called ‘Like A Hott Boyy,’” he tells Hip-Hop Wired. “The theme of the song came from just getting cash money… When I started writing the verses for it I incorporporated a little bit more of playing around with the ‘hot boys’ and the ‘cash money’ back in the day situation with some punchlines and he ended getting ear of it and hearing it and just shouted me.”

The LA native also talked about the possibility of working with mixtape Weezy. Peep part of Hip-Hop Wired’s exclusive interview with Kid Ink above.
