Waka Flocka Flame’s 2010 hit “Bustin’ At ‘Em” kicked off his debut album Flockaveli and the animated visual showcased the popular rapper vividly firing a handgun to the tune of a bouncy beat.

Rodney Patrick, 22, of Merritt Island, Florida, reportedly got too caught up in that imagery as the song played the lyrics, ““Pow, pow, pow, pow/Shoot first, ask questions last” and “You thug yo’ own brains/let me make yo’ death bed/Suicide shawty, shot his own self red.” According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Patrick picked up a loaded gun and fired it in the direction of his girlfriend’s 17-year-old brother, Douglas Winslow.

The gun, that Patrick believed to be unloaded, went off and a bullet ripped through Douglas’ head, killing him on the scene reports WESH.

The NYDailyNews has learned that Patrick also told the police a lie during the frantic 911 call saying, ““I handed my little brother my gun, and I didn’t know it was loaded, and he shot himself in the head. “He just wanted to see it. He thought it was so cool. I thought I had cleared it and everything.”

Patrick is now charged with manslaughter, tampering with evidence and possession of alprazolam, an anti-anxiety prescription drug. He is being held on no bodn. If convicted, he faces 25 years in prison.

Despite Patrick’s tearful apologies (“This is so bad. I’m such a horrible person. Oh my God, that poor kid. He had so much to live for,” he reportedly said), prosecutor Gary Beatty doesn’t have any mercy for his actions.

“We’ve got a gun being waved around. We’ve got the safety being clicked on and off, a loaded gun,” he says. “A reasonable person knows or should know that action can result in somebody’s death.”
