Oklahoma City Thunder’s Kevin Durant proved that he rides hard for his teammates after his epic MVP speech last year. Durant stood tall for one of his teammates who got criticized by a sportswriter, with the NBA All-Star calling the guy a “dumbass.”

Durant congratulated forward Nick Collison on the deal in his usual glowing fashion, but the good times got upended rather swiftly. Chris Palmer, a former NBA beat writer for ESPN, tweeted early Tuesday afternoon and threw a job at the Thunder’s resigning of  Collison to a two-year, $8 million extension.

“Dude who averages 3 pts & 3 rebs gets 2-year/$8M extension. No wonder they won’t make the playoffs,” tweeted Palmer.

Durant swooped in swiftly after seeing the jab cross his timeline, and threw a swift jab at Palmer and even checked homeboy’s employment status to boot.

“[M]eans a lot coming from a dude who got fired for being a dumbass,” fired back Durant.

According to the Bleacher Report, there’s been a history of bad blood between Durant and Palmer. Palmer was let go by ESPN in 2013. No word if it was the drugs that Durant hinted at while Palmer was still employed by the network.
