For over a year now, fans of DC Comics were teased with rumors that Jason Momoa was to play Justice League member and sea warlord, Aquaman. Now, Batman Vs. Superman director Zack Snyder has given the world its first look at the undersea superhero.

Although Momoa captured the hearts of fans for his Khal Drogo role on HBO’s Game Of Thrones series, some balked at him playing Aquaman at the onset. However, Snyder has been contending with fans over his casting choices since naming Ben Affleck as the Bruce Wayne/Batman of his version of the DC Comics film universe. Late Thursday, Snyder tweeted a photo of Momoa as Aquaman and it is certainly much different from the hero’s outfit in the past.

More from Vulture:

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder tweeted out the first picture of Jason Momoa’s Aquaman late Thursday night. “There is only one true King. #unitetheseven,” Snyder wrote, alluding either to the seven seas idiom, the initial superhero septet in DC’s Justice League comics, or an upcoming partnership with Skittles.

As announced last year, Snyder and Warner Bros. will be busy working on a series of big budget superhero films including the Batman vs. Superman vehicle dropping March 25 next year and an Aquaman standalone film in 2018. There will also be two Justice League films starring Henry Cavill as Superman and Gia Gadot as Wonder Woman.
