Nicki Minaj‘s status as a fashion icon and trailblazer can’t be argued, and it appears that the Queens entertainer might be turning heads in the sneaker world too. On Instagram, Minaj showed off some custom pink Air Jordans and hinted that they may be part of a collaboration with the Jordan Brand.
Minaj was the headline performer at last Friday’s (April 17) Jordan Brand Classic high school basketball All-Star game at the Barclays Center, taking to Instagram to stunt on the world with her “PinkPrintJordans” as she called them. True to the name, two shades of pink make up the color scheme of the shoe along with metallic gold trim and a purple rubber sole.
As reported by ELLE, Minaj gave up the whole outfit in full in a series of Instagram photos showing off a Chanel jacket, white hat and fitted white jeans and a bare midriff. The shoes definitely stood out amongst the bright lights. ELLE speculated that Jordan Brand’s upcoming “Jordan Westbrook 0” line resembles the so-called Pinkprints, with the NBA superstar’s sneaker debuting this October.
There could be a joint release of sorts for the lifestyle sneakers, and Nicki posting the Jordan Brand logo on the ‘Gram offered even another hint. If so, will the Young Money superstar have what it takes to battle with other high-profile names in the male-dominated sneaker industry? Time will tell.
