UFC’s Jon Jones A Suspect In Hit-And-Run, Upcoming Fight In Jeopardy
A tough year for Jon “Bones” Jones outside of mixed martial arts gets tougher, as he’s been named a suspect in a hit-and-run crash in New Mexico that left a pregnant woman in her 20s with minor injuries.
The Albuquerque Police Department tweeted the message above, confirming that Jones is a suspect sought for questioning for “his possible involvement in a hit-and-run accident.”
These allegations couldn’t come at a worse time, as Jones, arguably UFC’s biggest star, is preparing for a fight against Anthony Johnson (UFC 187 on May 23 in Las Vegas), which may now be in jeopardy, according to MMA Weekly.
“Officers attempted to contact Mr. Jones at his residence Sunday evening, but were unsuccessful,” Albuquerque police said in a statement to CNN. “We have also reached out to his lawyer, but as of now, have not heard back.”
Jones was amid controversy back in January, when he checked into a rehab center after testing positive for cocaine.
