Days later, CNN’s Erin Burnett issues an apology to the members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. for confusing the women for Crips gang members on-air.
According to Burnett, the whole thing was a misunderstanding. She simply “noted the reverend said gang members were attending” the town hall meeting in Baltimore as the live picture of the women was flashed. “We’re sorry if anyone got the impression we were calling that sorority gang members,” she said. “That wasn’t our intention.”
Still, “you’ve got the gang members right there” while the camera is turned to a bevy of mostly women donning blue paraphernalia is pretty suspect.
