Janelle Monáe’s protegé Jidenna dresses like a 1940’s aristocrat and raps like a second generation Dungeon Family member. From an aesthetic marketing vantage point, he’s just as good as gold. Maybe platinum.

Having scored an impressive feature on JM’s hit song “Yoga” as well as his debut record “Classic Man” picking up steam, the stage is being set for the Wondaland Records artist to hit the ground running.

For his latest single “Long Live The Chief,” the well-traveled MC accepts Vevo DSCVR’s invitation for a live presentation and wrecks it while making it look all too easy.

“You could either sink, swim or be the captain/Get the last word, I’ma get the last laughter/Now they say you’re denim, ‘Why you dressing so classy?’/I don’t want my best-dressed day in a casket,” he spits. Amen to that.

Watch the “Long Live The Chief” video below and look out for more Jidenna on Wondaland Records upcoming compilation EP, The Eephus.
