The Rachel Dolezal speaking tour has started with the now infamous Black woman impersonator appearing on the TODAY show this morning (June 16). During her sit down with Matt Lauer, the now former head of the NAACP’s Spokane, Washington chapter said that she identified as Black.

When asked if she was an African-American woman, Dolezal answered, “I identify as Black.”

The topic of her complex also came up.

“I certainly don’t stay out of the sun,” she said. “I also don’t, as some of the critics have said, put on blackface as a performance.”

Dolezal also spoke about her deception, why she didn’t correct initial reports that identified her as a biracial woman and when she started identifying as Black (she claims she drew self-portraits with the brown crayon).

Do you get the feeling that she’s enjoying all this attention, or nah?
