Ryan Reynolds is looking to win fans back after his poorly-received stint as the Green Lantern, this time switching venues from DC Comics to Marvel Comics. Reynolds will star in 2016’s Deadpool as a wisecracking and deadly assassin, and fans of the comic character got a treat Saturday night after an airing of a trailer.
Last night at the San Diego Comic-Con 2015, a savvy fan videotaped an airing of the Deadpool trailer which shows the origin of Wade Wilson and his transformation. Although the video isn’t exactly easy to see, what does come across is Deadpool’s humor, ability to kill at will, and some high-stakes action. Smart fans might recognize that Reynolds played the character in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Although it’s implied in the clip, allow us to explain further. Deadpool is similar to Wolverine in that he was put into the Weapon X program. That means he can heal himself quickly and can even survive having his head cut off. Nearly immortal, Deadpool’s healing powers also clashes with the fact he has a form of cancer which scarred his entire body. The trailer makes note of this in a weirdly comical way.
However, let us stop talking about it and check out the Deadpool trailer below. The movie hits theaters in February 2016. This clip won’t last for long online.
