Last week in Detroit, two separate assaults took place within hours of each other that both had eerie similarity. In both cases, a group of men cornered a man and woman, then forcing the men to watch by gunpoint as the women were sexually assaulted.
According to The Detroit News, The first of the assaults took place last Thursday (July 16) night around 10:00 p.m. when a 22-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were approached by six men also on foot. One of the men produced a gun and forced the couple into an alley then onto the ground. The man was forced to watch the rape take place and their clothing was taken.
The second assault accord Friday around 1:00 a.m. in the same area, this time with just two suspects forcing a 21-year-old man and 19-year-old woman into an alley and forcing the man to watch the act once as with the earlier instance.
Police are saying the assaults are possibly related and have reason to suspect that at least one of the assailants was present in both recent assaults. Detroit Police also suspect that this rape and robbery gang might have struck earlier in the month on July 11 although the crimes have yet to be offiicially connected.
