We had a feeling this was going to happen. After Nicki Minaj came for Miley Cyrus at the MTV VMA’s last night, Salon.com went so far as to describe the Queens rapper’s shade as “savage.”

For the record, “savage” is not the most appropriate adjective in this case. Especially when being used to describe a Black woman. Particularly when plenty of people are still debating whether the public rift is genuine or a hype publicity stunt. But especially considering the word’s racist connotations.

The story itself only gave a run of the mill account of the incident, but after much backlash on social media (and maybe an editor with sense taking a look), Salon.com deleted the offending tweet.

But this is the Internets, and the screen capture will keep it on record for eternity.

Check out reactions to Salon’s brain fart below and on the flip. Do better.

UPDATE: Salon has apologized, citing a “poor choice of words.”
