DJ Mustard is ’bout his business in the studio but as the multi-platinum producer’s bank continues to grow, so does his contributions back to the community.

Fresh off his record-breaking 2015 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards appearance, the 10 Summers general recently surprised more than 800 students at the Audubon Middle School and Gifted Magnet Center in his Los Angeles childhood neighborhood – Leimet Park. The young scholars each received backpacks filled to the brim with essential school supplies, courtesy of Mustard and Puma.

“When I was growing up, we never had anyone who made it out the hood come back and talk to us at school. I came here today to let them know they are on the right track and that I was in their shoes so it’s possible to be successful. Just keep going. It helps for kids to see that for themselves in person and not just on TV or in magazines.” DJ Mustard remembers.

Mustard lingered around to pose for pictures and sign autographs for all takers and 10 Summers recording artists RJ and Choice were also on deck to show support.
