Iman Shumpert’s seriousness for his career in rap goes deeper than just a hot-at-the-moment, “Hotline Bling” freestyle. To expand on his hobby as he nurses his wrist injury, the Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard has released the video for his song “Promised” and the video vixen is none other than his visibly pregnant fiancée, Teyana Taylor (who also sings vocals on the track).

The couple were recently engaged at the baby shower for their soon-to-be-born daughter and the love they share is evident in the sensual and mysterious clip directed by Sasha Samsanova.

“The crazy thing about it is when I was writing it, I was speaking figuratively,” Shumpert said of the record. “I wrote this song about a year-and-a-half ago. Teyana didn’t add her part until right before the playoffs last year. With everything that was going on it just started to line up in my mind, I kind of envisioned what was happening and timed it up accordingly.”

Taylor is seen elegantly posing atop the red and black and white backdrops the video employs.

“The emotion I wanted to capture, that breakdown part of the video, was telling the story of [Teyana] feeling something new, something real that no one could take away,” Shumpert continued. “I think [Sasha] did a great job of trying to capture that story.”
