More than six months after his grisly demise in his own Queens neighborhood, NYPD investigators still have no new leads in solving the Chinx murder case.

The 31-year-old rapper born Lionel Pickens was gunned down in the wee morning hours of May 17 as he sat in his Porsche after a night at the club. He was a close friend and associate of French Montana.

Fox 5’s Lisa Evers, who has been keeping tabs on the case since the very beginning, checked with a few former investigators within the department, who feel like its the Hip-Hop subculture that has caused the case to hit a wall.

Former NYPD cop Derrick Parker tells the news, “In order to solve Chinx murder, there are gonna need someone to come forward and cooperate. There’re gonna need witness cooperation in this case. That’s the only way it’s going to get solved.

Police had thought 27-year-old Antar Alziadi a.k.a. Cokeboy Yemen was going to be their man, as he was also with Chinx at the time of his death and was struck in the lung by one of the bullets. He says Chinx saved his life by shielding him from the onslaught of gunfire and he exhausted all the information he has to detectives who say he stopped cooperating.

Chinx’s widow, Janelli Caceres-Pickens, says she remains “hopeful and positive” that her husband’s killer will be brought to justice. Given the situation, that is the best she can do.
