First Lady Michelle Obama has not been shy about involving herself in cultural trends aimed at younger people, as evidenced by her ability to hit the latest dances with ease. Mrs. Obama once more shows she’s more than just the wife of the nation’s president and kicked some bars aimed at getting kids to attend college.

People.com writes:

FLOTUS has teamed up with CollegeHumor to create a music video encouraging teens to go to college, regardless of what they plan to do with their lives, and Obama even has her own verse on the song.

“Southside Chicago, we all know, we had to do overtime every night to make it tomorrow,” Obama raps as a throwback graduation photo of her appears next to her recording the song. “And everyone could really make their dream true. Hey, kid listenin’ in Michigan that could be you!”

While that’s her only solo verse, she also appears on the chorus inspiring teens everywhere to “go to college” and “fill your head with knowledge,” all while dancing on the White House lawn and belting out rhymes in a makeshift recording studio set up inside of her home.

However, the spotlight is stolen by Saturday Night Live actor Jay Pharaoh, who appears to be reprising his President Obama impersonation, hopping up on the table in the Rose Garden and cavorting all over the grounds.

The video is part of First Lady Obama’s Better Make Room public awareness campaign, which is housed within her Reach Higher initiative. As a lawyer herself, First Lady Obama has made education a hallmark of her duties while in the White House.
