In preparation for an eight-year prison sentence, Mendeecess Harris sent a special message to his daughter, Skylar. Unlike her two older brothers, one-year-old Skylar, can’t quite talk yet so the Love & Hip Hop: New York star recorded a touching video for her to watch when she gets older.
The recording is emotional, and understandably so. It begins with Harris telling Skylar how much she means to him (“I always wanted a girl first. I always prayed for you. I’m your protector, ” he says), and that no one will ever love her like dad. “ I want to be everything you need me to be to you in your life. Your best friend, your dad. If you need a shoulder to cry on or a hand to hold, long as I’m alive, I’m going to always be there for you. “
He also speaks about wife, Yandy Smith. “Your mother, she’s a perfect woman, a role model,” says Harris. “And if you could turn out to be half of your mother, I would be so grateful because I love what your mother stands for. She’s a woman with class. I fell in love with her because she was so different than what I was used to. So hopefully, you’ll pick up the traits of your moms and carry out all the stuff she believe in, you’ll believe in. And it’s going to take you a long way.”
Finally, Harris acknowledges that personal mistakes affect his family. “Hopefully one day I get to make it right.”
