The Screen Actors Guild knows what’s up. Black actors, including Idris Elba who won twice, were represented heavy in the winners column at the SAG Awards 2016 held last night (Jan. 30) in Los Angeles.

Reports Raw Story:

The winners of the SAG Awards 2016 have been revealed with Idris Elba taking home two accolades, one for his work in “Beast Of No Nation” and another one for his work on “Luther.” It was Elba that called out the award show as “diverse tv” when he presented his movie “Beast Of No Nation.” He made the referance to that as the majority of the winners at that point had been actors of color like himself, Viola Davis, Uzo Aduba and Queen Latifah.

One of the moments that stood out was when the cast of “Orange Is The New Black” took home the actor for Ensemble In A Comedy Series For Television, Laura Preppon accepted the award and said that the cast was a representation of what diversity looks like. If you are fan of the show, you know the Netflix show has white, African-American and Latino actors. This was a call out to the controversy that came about after the Oscar nominations were announced with only white actors in the major acting categories.

Straight Outta Compton lost to Spotlight in the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, but at least it got nominated.
