The Michael Jordan crying face meme remains undefeated on these Internets when it comes to jokes and slander. It turns out Air Jordan himself has no problem with people using it, so long as you don’t try to make money off of it.

Reports TMZ:

A rep for the NBA legend says MJ is actually cool with the phenomenon … telling us, “Everyone seems to be having fun with the meme.”

As everyone knows, Michael is fiercely protective of his brand — but his rep says, “We haven’t seen anyone using it to promote their commercial interests, which is something that we’re monitoring.”

Translation: you’re free to continue using MJ’s mug to mock people on social media. But the second you try to exploit it for cash … you’re Bryon Russell in ’98 — done.

The original photo was taken by Stephen Savoia in 2009 when Jordan was inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame. But after recently being tracked down to comment, Savoia was oblivious to his pic’s impact.

Go figure.
