A New York city police officer has been charged with reckless driving, assault and leaving the scene of an accident after being caught on camera hitting a bicyclist with his police car and driving off.

Officer Louis Ramos was suspended and arrested Tuesdays for the June 14th incident when he and his partner Paris Anderson were driving against the flow of traffic near the intersection of Sands and Jay Streets in Brooklyn and unexpectedly ran into a man on a bicycle.

The bicyclist flipped over his handle bars and can be seen on camera being handed tissues by Ramos and Anderson for cuts on his face, arms and legs before they drive off without reporting it or calling an ambulance.

The unidentified victim suffered a broken hand, cuts and bruises.

Ramos has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is currently suspended without pay.
