Rap beef seems to be running amok lately. On Monday (Feb. 29) Troy Ave delivered a reactionary diss record aimed at Joey Bada$$, and his dearly departed Pro Era comrade, Capital Steez.

The track is a response to Joey dissing Troy on his new single, “Ready.” On “Bad A**” Troy blasts the Pro Era frontman as a trash rapper who makes music for Coachella, while his music is for drug dealers and “foreign whips.”

“You sold a couple records but nobody cares,” he raps at the start. “You’re never on the radio ‘cause nobody cares.”

He continues the attack from every possible angle, calling Joey a “ filthy backpack rapper out a thrift shop” with a “drug addict face,” and so on.

To be fair, the flow in his attempted annihilation isn’t terrible enough to make your ears bleed. The context however, gets worse once he starts dissing Steez, who committed suicide in 2012.

‘Cause I’m a savage, it’s gone leave you sad b*tch/ Don’t be suicidal like your friend, here’s a casket,” he raps adding that Steez is “burning in hell.”

The choice to go at a dead person is a curious one indeed.
