Former Michigan State star Mateen Cleaves has been charged with sexual assault, among other charges. He is expected to turn himself in to authorities on Thursday (March 17) morning.

Reports TMZ:

Officials say 39-year-old Cleaves sexually assaulted a woman he met during a charity golf event back in 2015.

Cleaves allegedly took the woman to a motel in Grand Blanc, Michigan on Sept. 15th after offering her a ride home from a nearby bar … and held her in the room against her will and sexually assaulted her.

The 24-year-old woman says she was able to escape and got help from someone in a nearby room.

Cleaves has now been charged with unlawful imprisonment, assault with intent to commit criminal sexual penetration, criminal sexual conduct in the 2nd degree and 2 counts of criminal sexual conduct in the 3rd degree.

If convicted on all counts, Cleaves faces SERIOUS prison time.

As a point guard, Cleaves helped lead Michigan State to a national championship in 2000. After a six year stint in the NBA, he has gone into broadcasting and manages Flint rapper Jon Connor.

We gotta hear both sides.
