A Tribe Called Quest fans are well aware that the legendary Hip-Hop group hailed from the streets of Queens, New York, and shouted out a particular street that’s part of lore now. A petition has been launched to rename a portion of Linden Boulevard after the quartet in light of the untimely loss of Malik “Phife Dawg” Taylor.

As reported by the good folks at Uproxx, a Change.org petition enacted by Tee Smif of the Hip-Hop Discussion Group is urging City Council Member I. Deneek Miller and Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito to consider renaming the street.

From Change.org:

Sadly, this week it was reported that Malik “Phife Dawg” Isaac Taylor of the Iconic Hip Hop group A Tribe Called Quest has died. We are requesting the cooperation of Council Member I. Deneek Miller and Speaker Mark-Viverito to support our new proposed co-naming of Linden Boulevard between 192 Street and 193 Street to: A Tribe Called Quest Boulevard.

Thus far, the petition has met more than half of its 5,000-signature goal since launching.

ACTQ member Jarobi White wants to see similar tributes made in Phife Dawg’s name, including the renaming of a street and a park. White posted his wish list via his Facebook page and also posted a link to another petition.
