The good folks at the Burn Rubber Sneaker Boutique in Royal Oak, Mich. announced an upcoming collaboration with Reebok that will pay homage to the late Notorious B.I.G. Burn Rubber’s “Detroit Playas” sneaker will be released online and in-store at the end of this month, and the stylish shoe definitely looks to be a head turner.
Biggie famously shouted out Detroit, which is 14 miles south of Royal Oak, via his classic track “Hypnotize” with the lines, “Pink gators, my Detroit players/Timbs for my hooligans in Brooklyn.”
And as one could expect, Burn Rubber’s Reebok Phase I shoe combines all the elements of the Motor City’s signature styles with Reebok’s sleek design.

Burn Rubber Detroit and Reebok classics have partnered together for the early celebration of the late Notorious B.I.G.’s birthday with the release of the Reebok phase I. The shoe design features a mix of suede and alligator-embossed leather with a hint of reflective 3M. The shoes inspiration stems from the iconic lines of one of his hits from the Life After Death album Hypnotize when BIG paid homage to Detroit with…”Stink Pink Gators my Detroit players” showing his love not only for the city but for outlandish fashion choices.
The shoe will be made available to the public on April 30 via the https://burnrubbersneakers.com/Burn Rubber website and will also be available for purchase at its Royal Oak store. Will you be copping?
