Certified Fresh: The Matt Citron Bandwagon Is Open Now, Hop On Before It’s Too Late

With just two videos out, Matt Citron is already making waves. Make sure you catch one.

In just a couple of months the Atlanta-born artist has already gained the praises of OG’s like Greg Street, Jim Jones and Busta Rhymes for his “Tabasco Flows” freestyle series that has been gaining momentum online. He followed that video with a “Tabasco Flows 2” clip that was just as potent. On each of them he hopped on modern Hip-Hop classic instrumentals Jay Electronica’s “Exhibit C” and Jay Z’s “You Don’t Know.” Most rappers wouldn’t dare try hopping on those but Matt Citron saw it as a challenge that had to be met.

“I expected people to be like you can’t hop on those beats,” he says. “I was ready for that. But this game is like being in the lion’s cage. If you’re playing in the lion’s cage you’re gonna get scratched. Even if you kill the motherf*cker, you’re gonna get scratched. So why not hop on the same beats as the greats and see how you stack up against them?”

Who: Matt Citron was born in 1994 and raised in Atlanta.

Credentials: Veteran DJ Greg Street is his current mentor..

Fun Fact: Matt Citron originally wanted to play professional basketball before rapping.
