On Sunday evening (June 5), news broke online that DJ White Owl passed away. The mixtape producer’s artist Pokerface posted on Instagram: “Rest in Peace Rob. I’ll see you on the other side. Just gotta be strong and tell you thank you. See you in heaven my brother..”
Years ago, White Owl gained prominence by premiering tracks from Lil Wayne, Nipsey Hussle and countless others. The details of his death are unknown as of yet, although according to HNHH, closes sources close say he succumbed to a “undisclosed, long-term illness.”
On Monday, artists, fellow DJs and producers paid their respects to White Owl on social media, including DJ Green Lantern, Joe Budden and Statik Selektah. But perhaps, young producer Cardo Got Wings summed up the DJ’s impact perfectly.
