Elle Varner added her .02 cents when it comes to how young women should dress today (June 9), and she is currently getting skewered on Twitter for it. It all started when Varner commented on a photo that chastises those who would prefer a girl or woman alter their behavior or dress for the sake of thirsty men instead teaching said men girls are not sexual objects.

From Varner’s comments, she’s seemed to be team cover up.

“If you want to be loose or provocative then be that!,” read part of Varner’s message. “But do you really need to encourage young, innocent, impressionable girls to wear shorter shorts and show their bra straps in school!?”

A couple of things to point out. One, the original message the “Refill” singer posted is not encouraging young girls to wear short shorts or show off their bra straps, at all. Two, like Badu before, even a hint of victim blaming on these Internets will lead to your mentions looking like Hiroshima.

Last we checked she deleted the original posts and was copping pleas. Best of luck with that.

Varner does have plenty of supporters though. Peep the best of both sides of the struggle below and on the following pages.
