Nike Basketball has stepped up and made an executive decision to release one of its executives. According to TheShoeGame.com, Michael Jackson, former Vice President of Nike Basketball for the past two years, was forcefully encouraged to leave his position.

This move comes allegedly after Foot Locker noted the staunch prices of signature kicks like the Lebrons and the KDs, which hover around $200 per pair, hurt their holiday sales.

At the core of the issue is the fact that Steph Curry’s Under Armour kicks are the only major brand to move big units in the sale of basketball shoes this year.

Quick math: If you’re buying Lebrons, you’re paying $200-300, easily. Curry’s sneakers are a reasonable $130. See?

Nike is trying to get right again though… The KD 9s will start at $150.

As they figure things out, Craig Zanon will fill the Vice President and General Manager position over at Global Basketball for Nike. Zanon has been with the company for 27 years so we’re sure he’ll fit in just fine.
