Dwyane Wade has spent his entire NBA career with the Miami Heat, winning three championships and countless other accolades in what is without doubt worth of the Hall of Fame entry he’ll gain. Although it looked as if Wade would end his career in Florida, he has decided to take his talent far north to the Chicago Bulls and the reaction on Twitter has been frenzied as can be.
Wade will sign with the Chicago Bulls, at what is being reported as a two-year, $47 million deal. Wade, a resident of the South Chicago suburbs, was rumored to have left the Heat organization after haggling with management over a deal. Wade has made several financial sacrifices for the team and while somewhat on the decline at 34, he was still a high-value contributor. However, age and mileage may have stayed General Manager Pat Riley’s hand in not offering Wade a max deal in the star player’s twilight years.
But the fact players who are younger but still lesser players commanding big salaries in this wild-west style free agency period is reason enough for Wade to fight for his worth. Naturally, the reaction on Twitter has been swift considering Wade is now the face of the franchise. With a resume as stacked as his, it’d be a treat to see the old man pull magic out his hat once more in leading the Bulls but it’s a game of wait and see at this juncture.
