In the debut episode of HipHopWired.com’s Domino Effect, elite MC in-the-making Nick Grant talks about how a high school teacher inspired him to pursue a rap career.

God bless the teachers who inspire their students to think and live beyond the classroom. Nick Grant stopped by the HHW studios to talk about the chain of events, or the dominos that fell, that have led up to his career so far. Aside from being inspired by Biggie, Nas and Outkast like the rest of us, Grant reveals that it was a school teacher who actually made him want to pursue rap full time.

“I remember being in class and a bunch of students telling the teacher, ‘yo, he’s one of the dopest MCs ever,'” says Grant, who attended Booker T. Washington High School in Atlanta. “[The teacher] said ‘I want to hear him, tell him to rap for me.’ So I rapped, and he was like, ‘what are you doing here? Why are you in school? You need to go out and chase this.’ My teacher told me to quit school and go rap.”

Nick Grant is the first guest we’ve had on Domino Effect, check out the trailer below to see who else we have in store. Continue checking out HipHopWired.com for more episodes.
