Jenny from the Block is Puerto Rican, but she’s about to play a Colombian. Jennifer Lopez will be portraying infamous drug lord Griselda Blanco aka La Madrina in a forthcoming cable TV biopic.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the still untitled movie will land on HBO.

Reportedly the film will focus on the rise and fall of Blanco, who in the 70’s and 80’s violently rose to become one of the world’s most notorious drug dealers. Not only will Lopez play the “Godmother of Cocaine,” she will serve as one of the movie’s executive producers.

“I’ve been fascinated by the life of this corrupt and complicated woman for many years,” said Lopez via a press statement. “The idea of teaming with HBO felt like the perfect fit for finally bringing Griselda’s story to life.”

Blanco, whose story was featured in the cult documentary Cocaine Cowboys, was murdered in Medellin, Colombia in 2012. After serving time in the states for drug trafficking and murder, she was deported back to her native land in 2004.

Catherine Zeta Jones is also slated to portray Blanco in a forthcoming feature film.
