Joyner Lucas is emerging as one of Hip-Hop’s best storytellers and he’s creating some of the most captivating videos in rap in the process. His latest video for “I’m Sorry” proves this.

On “I’m Sorry” Joyner Lucas writes from the perspective of both a suicidal man who finally commits the act and a family member who feels lost and guilty in the aftermath. The video for it takes the song into a new dimension.

In it the sucidal man can be seen first attempting to hang himself, and at one point rapping while swinging from the noose he made of his belt.

Later, Lucas can be seen reading the suicide note left behind by his loved one and then walking into the house to see his dead body. The video concludes with a highly-emotional scene where he is rapping his frustration to the dead body as it rest in church at the funeral. Heavy stuff.

The verbal and visual storytelling here are probably only matched by Lucas’ 2015 video for “Ross Capicchioni” where he retells the true story of a Detroit man who was shot and left to die by a former friend and classmate going through a gang initiation.
