Thug changes. The artist formerly known as Young Thug is to now be referred to as “No My Name Is Jeffery.” That’s according to Thugger’s label boss Lyor Cohen.

In an interview on the Rap Radar podcast, Cohen made the reveal saying that it’s an “important” change in Thug’s still blossoming career.

Young Thug is not going to be Young Thug anymore,” says Cohen. “His new name is going to be ‘No My Name Is Jeffery.'”

According to Complex, Cohen continued:

The reality is, when you see this commercial, you’re all going to understand what we do here at 300. Because it’s powerful images of what makes someone Young Thug and what the evolution and how someone is Jeffery. It’s a circular thing, it’s important. “No, My Name is Jeffery” is on it’s way. Please respect us to actually segue and utilize his name going forward because it’s important.

Thugger’s sister Dora kind of sort of backed up the news on Twitter saying:

Young Thug has already underwent a few cosmetic changes since he burst on the the scene just a couple of years ago. He’s traded in his gold teeth for white veneers and has tamed his wild dreadlocks. Is this news true or could it be the latest tense back-and-forth between Lyor and Thugger?

His new mixtape Jeffery is set to drop on Tuesday, August 16.
