“Real Hip Hop” heads’ favorite new rapper Lil Yachty sat down with TIDAL recently to share his thoughts on his rapid rise to stardom and why “serious rap” is boring.
It seems like everyday Lil Yachty gives his haters a new reason to hate, but also gives his fans more reasons to love him.
In an interview for TIDAL’s DNA video series, Yachty shares a few details about what has changed and what has remained the same since he became on of rap’s newest stars.
He says that he still doesn’t drink or smoke. Hell, he rarely even goes out to party. He says he stays in the studio to either record or just listen to beats.
He also talks about how no one really believed that he could make it as a rapper after he dropped out of college. Yachty insists that he won over his family and friends once he showed that he was able to provide for himself and others.
But, despite all of that, the quote that is likely to garner the most attention is when he expresses his disdain for “serious rap” and how it puts him to sleep. While he doesn’t offer up any names or examples of “serious rap” we’re sure that people will assume what he is talking about for him.
