Atlanta rapper Shawty Lo has died from injuries suffered in a car accident early this morning (Sept. 21). He was 40-years-old.
Shawty Lo’s manager confirmed his death with The Rickey Smiley Show. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Lo was killed in a crash on the I-285 in south Fulton County.
Per Fulton police spokeswoman Maureen Smith, the crash was a single car accident and occurred after 2 am.
Lo was traveling in a white Audi that reportedly went over a guardrail and struck two trees before it ignited on fire. There were two other people in the car who were taken to a local hospital.
At the moment it is unclear who was driving the vehicle
Born Carlos Walker, Shawty Lo came to fame as a member of D4L, who scored a national hit with “Laffy Taffy.” He would go on to experience solo success with the hit single “Dey Know.”
Most recently, Shawty Lo made headlines for a since scrapped reality show about his 11 children and multiple baby mamas.
