Despite the untimely death of Phife Dawg earlier this year, A Tribe Called Quest triumphantly returned with a new album, We Got It From Here…Thank You 4 Your Service. Fans hoping to see the group live will have their wishes fulfilled since a world tour is planned, at least tentatively.

Speaking to Billboard magazine, Q-Tip confirmed this project is the group’s last hurrah, but not before they hit the road. “This is our last record, and we’ll probably do a world tour,” Q-Tip told Billboard, noting they can’t make more albums since the 5 Foot Assassin is gone. “After that, that’s it, for the rest of our lives.”

Recently, ATCQ signed with the Creative Arts Agency to represent the group worldwide after leaving longtime agent Cara Lewis.

Also worth noting from the interview, Elton John, who appears on the album, is a Phife fan.

Says Billboard:

“Elton is royalty,” says Q-Tip, who reached out to John and was amazed to discover that he was a fan. “When Phife died, he was on tour in Australia and dedicated ‘Candle in the Wind’ to him.”

Put one up for the Phifer.
