#BoycottHamilton is trending on Twitter after cast members of the Broadway musical called out vice-president elect Mike Pence at a show on Friday night.

In case you missed it, Pence finally got his chance to see the Broadway musical that has been sold out for months going into next year. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect for him to be in room full of people that his viewpoints and policies as governor of Indiana could directly effect once he presumably bring them with him into the White House.

Sensing the fear and disgust of Americans all over the country, the cast chose to confront and challenge Pence to represent for all Americans, not just the ones in his “Whitest selfie ever.”

As usual in America, a group of people were offended by a group of minorities using their entertainment platform to draw attention to societal ills that directly offend them. Remember when #BoycottNFL came after players started taking a knee during the national anthem? Now we have #BoycottHamiltion.

The funny thing here is that as crazy as #BoycottNFL sounded, it could actually be done by not buying tickets to the games, not watching the games on television or not buying merchandise. But #BoycottHamilton? As many have pointed out, most, if not all of the people spreading the hashtag either can’t afford tickets to go or can’t go in the first place.
