A Connecticut teen killedby gunfire yesterday in the Bronx was a victim of a random gang initiation, police say.

The victim, Tayshawn Bromfield, 16, was standing in front of his father’s house, who he was visiting, when he was struck in the chest by bullets ejected from a passing sedan.

Witnesses say he took his last breath on the scene. He was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after the 12:40 a.m. shooting.

Then teen who lived with his mother in Meriden, Connecticut was visiting his father in the Bronx to go school shopping, when senseless tragedy struck.

The teen’s father Basil Bromfield was understandably in disbelief…

“When I found out he was shot, I told the police, ‘This can’t be possible. He wasn’t a kid who even knew people who did drugs or had guns’. I saw him 20 minutes before he was shot. The only reason I left him was because he was such a good kid and he was with two other good kids.”
