The Roots have landed yet another cool gig. The band will be performing the opening of the 2017 NBA All-Star Game in New Orleans.

The hardest working group in Hip-Hop will be taking their talents to the Big Easy in February to crank up the All-Star game before the players take the court.

Black Thought has been accepting all of the congratulations on Twitter.

With John Legend performing at halftime fans have been entertaining the thought of both acts performing together. Specifically, tracks from their 2010 collaboration album Wake Up! That sounds unlikely, but Black Thought has offered to at least ask.

This is not the first time The Roots have been tapped to work with the NBA. This summer the band created the theme music for the NBA Finals. The NBA All-Star game takes place on February 19, 2017.
