Thug Life‘s 1994 single “How Long Will They Mourn Me” gets some new life with an unreleased Tupac verse.

DJ King Assassin and Chad Kiser delivered a never-before-heard version of the song to HipHopDX.

“What’s different on this one is that the verse from Tupac is totally different. Nobody’s heard this verse at all. No one,” King Assassin says. “The song sounds different cause it’s a different mix. I always had it in the cut. I never planned on releasing it but I think now that [Syke] and ‘Pac are gone people would want to hear anything from them.”

One of the standout tracks from the Thug Life album, “How Long Will They Mourn Me” featured Tupac as well as group members Big Syke, Rated R, and Macadoshis with Nate Dogg singing the hook. It was released as the third single from the album, but the video version did not feature Tupac as he was serving out his sexual assault sentence at the time.

The song was already considered eerie as the theme was posing the question of how long will it take loved ones to be forgotten after they are dead. Now, four people affiliated with the song are now deceased; Tupac, Big Syke, Nate Dogg and the track’s co-producer Jam Master Jay.
