Good news, Donald Glover just inked an overall deal with FX. Not so good news, Atlanta season two isn’t coming until 2018.

Before Glover and the Atlanta cast and crew won two Golden Globes last weekend, the show’s popularity was already rewarded with a second season after just the first two episodes. While that is worth rejoicing, fans will have to find something else to do with their time until it returns. Due to Glover’s schedule, the show will not be coming back until 2018.

Nope, afraid not.

Shadow and Act reports that Glover has inked a new overall deal with FX Productions where he will have the green light to produce more shows and content for FX as well as other networks and streaming services. Obviously, Atlanta is included in the bunch, but Glover also has another job that he is starting this year. Remember, he’s supposed to be playing some character named Lando Calrissian in a small movie franchise called Star Wars. He starts shooting this month.

Due to the magnitude of such an assignment, shooting for Atlanta will have to take a backseat.

The show is definitely worth waiting for, let’s hope that fans can be patient enough not to forget that. Hell, we’ve been waiting all our lives for a show like this and didn’t even realize it, what’s one more year?
