On a day where we should be chanting “let freedom ring,” a few people let gunshots ring instead.

Miami police are saying that eight people were shot after a Martin Luther King day parade.

Three adults and five minors were shot. Among them were an 18-year-old woman,  30-year-old Michael Clarke who is in stable condition and 20-year-old Jerome Battle who is in critical condition. Three teenaged girls, Lajada Benson, 14, Nakya-Senat Butler, 15, and Alfanesha Times, 17, were taken to the hospital and are currently in stable condition. Ciara Johnson, 11, and Keionna Green, 13, were grazed by bullets but were treated and released on the scene. Thankfully, no one was killed.

Miami police condemned the actions as “shameful” on Twitter.

A motive for the shooting has yet to be determined and no suspects have been named.
