The long-awaited Tupac All Eyez On Me biopic is all the way legit now.

The Hollywood Reporter states that Lionsgate has secured the U.S. rights to the film. This puts All Eyez On Me in the hands of the same company that distributes Tyler Perry’s movies as well as the Hunger Games and Twilight franchises.

The news, in addition to the June 16 release date that was revealed back in November, means that the highly-discussed movie will indeed see the light of day.

Fans have been waiting for the film since 2011 when it was officially announced. However, original director Anthony Fuqua left the project and was replaced by John Singleton who also left the project. Eventually, video director Benny Boom took over and got it done. Shooting took place in Atlanta and Los Angeles throughout 2015 and trailers began emerging in Spring 2016. Even though a release date was not revealed at the time, many began speculating if the movie would ever come out. The movie’s producer L.T. Hutton finally came forward to advise fans to be patient as they figured out the post-production and distribution plans.

Now, it looks like those plans have been solidified and it we can now look forward to it hitting theaters on what would have been Tupac’s 46th birthday.
