Remy Ma and Papoose publicly shared with viewers of Love & Hip Hop: New York a personal matter that no family ever wants to face. The rapper revealed she suffered a miscarriage but bravely stated to her fans and supporters that she and her husband are devastated but not defeated.

VH1 writes that on Monday night’s episode of LHHNY, Remy, the former Reminisce Smith, and husband Papoose, born Shamele Mackie, were overjoyed to announce they were having their first child. However, the crushing news came that there were complications and the emotional ups and downs of the Mackie family’s new reality were on full display on the program.

More from VH1:

But at the end of the episode came the life-changing news that Remy was having an ectopic pregnancy and the fetus needed to be removed, but worse still, she learned that she can’t have any more pregnancies. It’s a devastating blow to their family, as Remy explains, “I promised my husband that I would give him the child that he’s been asking me for since almost the day he met me and I can’t do that any more.” Ever since they arrived on the show, we know how much it meant to them to have a child, and to receive news like this is a blow.

Papoose explains that watching his wife break down makes him break down too, but he has to be strong for her. “I have to be the rock for her… We’re gonna get through it, we’ve just got to take it one day at a time. Regardless of what we have to do, we’re gonna get through it together.”

But like the strong family they are, the Mackies aren’t giving up their plans to bring a little one into the world. Remy took to her Instagram, thanking fans, supporters and her doctors for their kindness and care. The tough-talking MC vowed that she and Papoose will have the baby they want and will take steps to make that a reality.

Our hearts are with Remy Ma and Papoose during this trying time.
